On April 28, 2026, Arkansas State Police attempted a traffic stop on a Mercury Grand Marquis after troopers discovered the vehicle was displaying fictitious tags and had no confirmed insurance. According to the report, the driver — identified as Kywaun Washington — initially stopped and spoke with Trooper A. Colvin before suddenly putting the vehicle in drive and fleeing the scene. Troopers say the pursuit quickly escalated through city streets and residential neighborhoods, with Washington allegedly reaching speeds near 100 MPH, running multiple stop signs and red lights, driving into opposing lanes of traffic, and nearly striking other vehicles. During the pursuit, troopers attempted multiple Tactical Vehicle Interventions (TVIs) before the suspect eventually lost control, left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and overturned the vehicle. Washington was taken into custody after the crash and transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Hempstead County Jail.
