An Arkansas State Trooper attempted to stop a Dodge Charger for speeding on Highway 118 near Joiner in Mississippi County after allegedly observing the vehicle traveling approximately 80 mph in a 55 mph zone. According to investigators, the driver, later identified as 23-year-old Thalia Jones, refused to stop and instead accelerated, leading troopers on a pursuit through the rural area. Authorities said the chase intensified when Jones allegedly crossed into oncoming traffic while attempting to evade law enforcement. Troopers ultimately performed a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver, causing the Charger to lose control, leave the roadway, and overturn in a nearby field. As officers secured the scene, they discovered a 3-year-old child had been inside the vehicle. The toddler emerged from the wreckage and ran toward responding troopers. Authorities reported that the child was not injured and was evaluated by emergency responders along with Jones before being released to another responsible adult at the scene. According to police, the trooper expressed frustration upon learning a child had been in the vehicle and criticized Jones for allegedly placing the child's life at risk during the pursuit. Jones was arrested and charged with speeding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, child endangerment, and unauthorized use of another person's vehicle to commit a crime. Authorities stated the vehicle belonged to Jones' boyfriend, and the incident was reported to the Child Abuse Hotline.
