Around 3:29 PM on April 12, 2024, Patrolman Randy Boehler with the Shrewsbury Police Department responded to a report of a male and female arguing inside a 2013 Honda. He initiated a traffic stop and the driver pulled over in the parking lot of 827 Broad Street. He initiated contact with the driver as well as her passenger. The driver was identified as Amanda Krehl. They told the officer that they were coming from an attorney’s office because her passenger’s license was suspended. As he was speaking with Amanda, he observed indicators of impairment and called for another officer to administer field sobriety exercises. The field sobriety exercises included the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, Walk and Turn test, and One Leg Stand test. Since Amanda was unable to complete these tests satisfactorily, she was placed under arrest for operating under the influence. Her vehicle was later impounded for a 12-hour hold according to John’s Law. Patrolman Boehler transported Amanda to the Shrewsbury Police Department for further processing, a DRE evaluation was completed by Sergeant Joseph Barnicle and she also provided a urine sample. Patrolman Boheler issued Amanda the following citations: Operating under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, driving with a suspended registration, driving without a license, and driving with an expired license Amanda’s prior arrests include the following incidents: -Possession in Delanco, New Jersey on September 8, 2015 (2C:35-7.1A) -Shoplifting in North Brunswick, New Jersey on March 28, 2023 (2C:20-11B(3)) -Wandering/Prowling to Obtain CDS in Robbinsville Township, New Jersey on May 14, 2023 (2C:33-2.1B) -Criminal mischief in Stratford, New Jersey on January 27, 2024 (2C:17-3A(1)) Amanda’s future arrests include the following incidents: -Shoplifting in Secaucus, New Jersey on April 19, 2024 (2C:20-11B(1)) -Shoplifting in Monroe Township, New Jersey (Gloucester County) on January 10, 2025 (2C:20-11B(2)) ---------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information). This is similar to other law enforcement channels on YouTube. All videos and case documents were obtained pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq. (P.L. 2024, c.16). Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The New Jersey Supreme Court has previously affirmed in Salzano v. North Jersey Media Group, 993 A.2d 778 (2010) that “The fair-report privilege reflects the judgment that the need, in a self-governing society, for free-flowing information about matters of public interest outweighs concerns over the uncompensated injury to a person's reputation.” This video advances a compelling public interest. The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
