A distressing account of alleged child abuse emerges after a child flees their home in freezing temperatures. Police were alerted when a barefoot child, visibly distressed and inadequately dressed for the 31°F weather, was brought to a fire station after fleeing a domestic dispute. The child reported being punched, dragged by the hair, and struck multiple times with an extension cord following an argument over cleaning their room. Officers later contacted the adult guardian, who described the incident as a "discipline issue" and claimed defensive actions, yet acknowledged a physical struggle involving a cord. Visible welts on the child were consistent with the reported abuse, leading to the guardian's arrest for felony child abuse charges. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
