On May 27, 2023, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Lampert observed a driver cross over the marked line painted on the roadway. As a result, he initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. While pulling over, the driver struck the curb hard enough to solicit a verbal response from Trooper Lampert. The 18-year-old woman admitted to drinking, so she was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the end of the tests, she was placed under arrest for DUI. She was transported to the Miami County Sheriff's Office for an evidential breath test. Ironically, another Trooper showed up with a detainee who was also arrested for DUI. The woman refused to submit to a breath test and was released to a sober party after receiving a citation for Operating a Vehicle Impaired and for the Marked Lanes Violation.
