Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At approximately 10:07 PM on July 3, 2023, Officer Richard Roy from the Fairfield Township Police Department noticed a 2003 Toyota Corolla speeding at 80 MPH in a 55 MPH zone near State Route 4 and Greenlawn Road. He activated his emergency lights to pull the car over, but the driver continued until finally stopping at the United Dairy Farmers gas station located at 4255 State Route 4 in Liberty Township, Ohio. Officer Roy approached the driver, identified as 26-year-old Elisha Thompson. When asked why she didn’t stop sooner, she replied that she was trying to get home. He looked inside the car and saw two children in the front passenger seat and four in the back. In the front, there was a 9-year-old and a 4-year-old, while the back seat held Elisha’s 10-month-old twins, a 6-year-old, and a 3-year-old. None of the children were using seat belts or safety restraints. He also noticed a smell of alcohol inside the vehicle. Officer Roy instructed Elisha to step out of the vehicle and asked her about her drinking. She initially claimed she had only had one beer at a fireworks event earlier. During the conversation, Officer Roy discovered that she had an outstanding arrest warrant and that her driver's license was suspended. Around this time, Butler County Deputy Young arrived to help but soon left for another call. Shortly after, Sergeant Matt Miller and Officer Tess Flynn arrived to assist with the traffic stop. Officer Roy suspected that Elisha might be impaired and asked her to perform some field sobriety tests. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During this, Officer Roy noted that Elisha had trouble following a moving object smoothly. He also observed noticeable jerking in her eye movements at maximum deviation and before reaching 45 degrees in both eyes. The second test was the One Leg Stand. In this test, Elisha did not raise her foot correctly and put it down twice. The final test was the Walk and Turn test. Elisha struggled to maintain her balance and did not turn as instructed during this test. Due to her unpredictable driving, unclear speech, and failure to complete field sobriety tests, Officer Roy arrested Elisha for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). After her arrest, officers searched and impounded her vehicle. She was then taken to the Fairfield Township Police Department for processing. At the Fairfield Township Police Department, Officer Roy explained the Ohio BMV 2255 form to her while Sergeant Miller observed. She ultimately decided not to provide breath samples for testing. After being photographed and fingerprinted, Elisha was taken to the Butler County Jail and booked for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) and six counts of child endangerment. She received several citations, including OVI (ORC 4511.19 (A)(1)(A)), speeding at 80 mph in a 55 mph zone (ORC 4511.2), driving with a suspended license (ORC 4510.16), and failure to wear a seatbelt (ORC 4513.263).
