On September 21, 2022, at approximately 2245 hours, a Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black motorcycle that had no tag displayed around Ronald Reagan Boulevard near McFarland Parkway. The motorcyclist displayed an insulting hand gesture to the FCSO deputy as it proceeded to flee. Due to the FCSO Pursuit Policy, the deputy could not engage in a vehicle pursuit with the motorcycle. The FCSO deputies requested assistance from the Georgia State Patrol over their radio channel regarding the motorcycle. At 2248 hours, I (Trooper A. Mathews) observed a black motorcycle with no tag visible traveling north on Ronald Reagan Boulevard just north of McGinnis Ferry Road. I activated my patrol vehicle’s emergency blue lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop. I observed the motorcyclist execute an improper U-turn on a red arrow and it rapidly accelerated south on Ronald Reagan Boulevard. The motorcyclist failed to stop as a vehicle pursuit ensued. I radioed the Troop B Communications Center (TBCC) and informed them of the vehicle pursuit. The vehicle pursuit entered Union Hill Road and continued north. I observed the motorcyclist operate the motorcycle in a reckless manner and at a high rate of speed with no headlights illuminated. As the vehicle pursuit approached Faircrest Lane, I attempted to channel the motorcycle into an unobstructed turning lane to terminate the vehicle pursuit. This attempt was unsuccessful. The motorcycle almost struck my patrol vehicle as it accelerated around me. The vehicle pursuit continued north on Union Hill Road until we approached James Road. A FCSO deputy maneuvered his marked patrol vehicle with emergency equipment activated into the intersection. I then channelized the motorcycle to the right turn lane and down into a parking area of a private business. The motorcyclist proceeded to flee into a graveled area. The motorcycle entered the loose gravel area as the driver lost control of the vehicle and overturned. The driver separated from the motorcycle to the ground. The subject immediately got back up on his feet. I exited my patrol vehicle and drew my duty weapon. I conducted a felony arrest, and I ordered the subject to the ground. The subject walked slowly in front of my patrol vehicle and failed to immediately respond to my lawful orders. I holstered my duty weapon and with the assistance of FCSO Deputy D. Loucks, arrested the suspect. The violator was identified as 17-year-old Jacob Asendorf. Through a GCIC Driver’s Query, it was discovered that Asendorf had no valid driver’s license. Asendorf later admitted the reason he had no driver’s license was due to a previous fleeing incident. During the arrest, Asendorf was uncooperative as he used derogatory language and displayed a disrespectful attitude towards law enforcement. Asendorf bragged about his behavior, and he emphasized how he would just continue to flee from police in the future. It was learned that this same motorcycle had been observed taunting, antagonizing, and fleeing from the FCSO on several different occasions over the last week. Emergency medical services was requested to the scene of the occurrence due to Asendorf’s complaints of minor injuries. Asendorf was transported to the Northside Forsyth Hospital where he was medically treated and later released. The motorcycle was inspected and found to have a rear tire that did not meet the tread requirements by law and an improper exhaust system that had been cut and modified from factory specifications. The motorcycle was impounded by Hamby’s Towing. SFC R. Fuller responded to the crash scene and completed a crash report. Asendorf was later transported to the Forsyth County Jail and turned over to jail staff. Seven citations and one E-warrant was secured for Asendorf and submitted to the jail.
