On March 12, 2024, Flagler County deputies responded to a SuperTarget shopping center in Palm Coast, Florida, after reports of three suspects shoplifting from multiple stores. As deputies closed in, one of the suspects attempted to hit a deputy with their car while fleeing the scene. What followed was a high-speed chase reaching around 75 mph. Deputies deployed stop sticks near a Dodge dealership, but the suspects kept going — driving the car off the road and into a nearby pond. All three had to swim out before being taken into custody. Investigators recovered over $1,000 in stolen merchandise, including dozens of candles and additional items from a second store, where a retail crime investigator had already been tracking the group.
