In the early morning hours, a deputy initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle driving erratically, crossing the center line, and nearly colliding with another car. During the initial interaction, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and noted the driver's incoherent demeanor, prompting a request to check her eyes, where a lack of smooth pursuit was observed. Although initially denying alcohol consumption, the driver later admitted to drinking, leading to the administration of voluntary field sobriety exercises. She failed all three tests: exhibiting distinct nystagmus during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, an inability to properly execute the Walk and Turn test by walking backward, and struggling to maintain balance and count correctly during the One Leg Stand.
