A late-night call about a highly intoxicated driver leads officers to a distressing scene involving children. Witnesses reported an intoxicated woman attempting to abandon two children at a gas station, even allegedly tossing an infant to the ground before driving away. Officers located the vehicle, and during the traffic stop, the woman exhibited erratic behavior, initially denying involvement before repeatedly apologizing. Inside the patrol vehicle, an officer inquired about her living situation, leading to the revelation that she had three children and lived alone with no support, prompting a search for an initially unaccounted-for third child. The children were eventually taken into protective custody by child welfare services, and the woman was arrested for child neglect and public intoxication, with previous probation for similar offenses noted. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
