Bodycam footage captures the unbelievable moment a UPS employee conducted a fake traffic stop using a stolen police badge — then called 911 asking for backup. What started as an apparent attempt to play cop quickly spiraled into a real criminal investigation in Pembroke Pines, Florida. According to investigators, 27-year-old Devonte Thomas used a stolen badge during a roadside encounter before ultimately contacting real law enforcement. But there was one major problem: he wasn’t a police officer. In this video, you’ll hear the actual 911 call, watch the bodycam footage unfold, and see how the situation ended with Thomas in handcuffs. We also break down the criminal charges, the plea deal. Thomas was originally charged with impersonating a police officer, a felony offense in Florida. Court records later show the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor after a plea agreement that included probation and withheld adjudication. Do you think he got off easy? Or was the punishment fair?
