On August 30, 2023, Mount Vernon Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident. Several callers reported that the driver of a Dodge Challenger had hit numerous parked cars, a building, and several benches around the city's river walk. When the first officer arrived, the 21-year-old woman was in the process of fleeing on foot. Officers caught up to the woman and detained her. The police report indicates that officers could smell alcohol coming from the breath of the woman. Officers interviewed the owner of a local bar where the woman was drinking at and he claimed she only was served 2 drinks. The woman was arrested and transported to the emergency room. A search warrant for a blood draw was obtained. The police report indicates the woman's blood alcohol concentration was 0.19%. In all, she was charged with DUI, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and nine counts of hit and run.
