Bodycam footage shows a standoff between more than a dozen Chicago police officers and a man armed with a knife inside a hotel elevator in River North on April 7, 2025. After a foot chase through downtown Chicago, officers called him by name, ordered him to drop the knife and deployed Tasers before two officers opened fire. A court order kept the footage sealed for a year and a half — until Chicago's Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released it on October 1, 2026. We break down the bodycam, police street camera and hotel security footage. Was the shooting justified? You decide.
