On June 10, 2024, the University of Cincinnati Police Department received a call about a man attempting to remove a parking boot from a vehicle. Officer Anokye located the man kneeling in front of the booted tire and tried to detain him. A brief struggle ensued, but Officer Anokye was able to get the 20-year-old student handcuffed. He was then placed in the back of a police car while 6 police officers decided to determine what charges were applicable. 2 representatives from parking enforcement arrived and were eventually convinced that they must agree to be the complainant on theft charges. When Officer Anokye stated on camera that he was okay with releasing the man, another officer interjected by stating it was a little too late for that. The man was eventually charged with theft, obstruction of official business, and possession of fake IDs. The outcome of his case is discussed at the end of the video.
