Officer Garzone approached the car and immediately smelled alcohol. The driver, 26-year-old A. Devine, claimed she was not drunk. She said it was her younger brother in the passenger seat who was impaired. Alissa explained that they were leaving a New York Rangers game, where the team had just lost 3-2 to the San Jose Sharks. After looking deeper into the situation, Officer Garzone gave Devine a chance to do some field sobriety tests. First, she conducted the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. The findings suggested Devine might be impaired. While walking, Devine showed signs of poor balance and coordination. Following this, she struggled with the Walk and Turn and One Leg Stand tests, failing to complete them properly. Devine was arrested for driving under the influence after admitting to drinking alcohol and not performing the field sobriety tests properly. At the station, she agreed to take a breathalyzer test.
