On May 5, 2025, Shorewood Hills Police Officer Maginot stopped a vehicle for speeding and driving down a closed street. The vehicle was being driven by an 18-year-old woman. The police report indicates that Officer Maginot could smell the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, along with the odor of cannabis. The woman was asked to step out of the vehicle and Officer Maginot performed a search of her car. He found open containers of alcohol. As a result, the woman was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. These tests were edited out of the video due to the lack of lighting. However, the woman blew into a portable breath test device and the result was 0.41% BAC (although Officer Maginot later questioned the accuracy of the result). The woman consented to a blood draw and was transported to the hospital. Because her vehicle was lawfully parked, Officer Maginot decided not to tow her car. She was very concerned about "going back to jail" because they "treat you like dogs in there". Officer Maginot assured her that she would be released if she could find a sober adult to pick her up. A friend arrived, signed a liability form, and the woman was released from custody. 17 minutes later, Officer Maginot found the woman driving her car again and she was re-arrested. Here is a link to her 2nd arrest: https://youtu.be/zLzIyg-iHkc All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
