Los Angeles, California — April 8, 2026: Los Angeles Police Department officers were patrolling near Central Avenue and Towne Avenue at approximately 9:40 a.m. when they spotted a newer-model BMW that was wanted in connection with a felony crime. Officers followed the BMW onto the 5 Freeway while additional units were requested. When the BMW began accelerating away, officers initiated a vehicle pursuit. About a minute later, the BMW exited toward Olympic Boulevard. While traveling on the off-ramp, the driver suddenly made a U-turn and accelerated against traffic, colliding head-on with responding police vehicles. The BMW eventually came to a stop. The driver, later identified as 30-year-old Jesus Ernesto Jaime, exited the vehicle and stood behind it as officers ordered him to surrender. Instead of complying, Jaime reportedly removed a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and pointed it at an officer. An officer-involved shooting followed, and Jaime was struck by gunfire. Officers took Jaime into custody and transferred him to Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Representatives from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner responded and identified Jaime. A second person inside the BMW surrendered to officers and was taken into custody without further incident. Two LAPD officers were transported to a nearby hospital for injuries sustained during the vehicle collision. Both officers were treated and released. Investigators recovered a 9mm semi-automatic Glock handgun loaded with 17 rounds from the scene. A loaded .357 Magnum Astra revolver was also recovered from inside the BMW. No other members of the public were reported injured. This video is presented for documentary, informational and public-interest purposes, using footage related to the reported police incident. #LAPD #PoliceBodycam #Bodycam #LosAngeles #PoliceShooting #PolicePursuit #BMW #PoliceChase #OfficerInvolvedShooting #Crime #Dashcam
