🎥 In today's copyrighted documentary, we report on an incident that occurred in Albuquerque, New Mexico in January. A Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputy spotted a stolen red Dodge Challenger driving through Albuquerque. It wasn't the first time. According to deputies, they had tried to stop the same Challenger twice before — both pursuits were called off after the driver hit speeds north of 130 mph. This time, they brought the helicopter. Patrol units hung back while the air unit tracked the car in real time, much of it captured on night vision. According to officers on scene, a deputy got ahead of the chase and laid spike strips on Old Coors. The Challenger hit them and lost at least three tires. The driver kept going anyway — at one point cutting through the northbound lanes of Coors against oncoming traffic — until a deputy pinned the Challenger with his cruiser. Even pinned and riding on three flats, the driver floored the accelerator trying to break free. Deputies deployed three 40mm OC (tear gas) canisters into the vehicle before he finally stepped out. Then, hands raised, he made a run for it on foot. Court records identify the driver as Jude Schulte. Records show Schulte has prior convictions for drug trafficking, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and carrying a firearm on school grounds. He was also previously indicted on murder charges, but was acquitted at trial. In the current case, Schulte was charged with aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a felon, trafficking methamphetamine, reckless driving, and resisting an officer. He hasn't been convicted of these charges and is presumed innocent. The full story is in the documentary.
