Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 1:15 a.m. on August 7, 2022, Evesham Police Sergeant Gary Borbidge saw a 2018 BMW swerving on Tuckerton Road. He stopped it after it turned onto Longhurst Road. As he approached, he smelled alcohol and spotted a six-pack of Smirnoff beer beneath the passenger seat. Two bottles were gone. Officer Isaiha Rose arrived after a report of a possible drunk driver near Longhurst Road and N. Elmwood Road, then took over the investigation. The driver, 26-year-old Angelique Pappas, said she had been at a bar and admitted drinking earlier. Her speech was slurred, and the smell of alcohol was strong, so Rose asked her to take field sobriety tests. Pappas agreed, beginning with the Walk and Turn test. She had trouble standing in place and could not walk heel to toe while counting aloud. During the One Leg Stand test, she failed to keep one foot six inches off the ground and moved her arms to maintain balance. For the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, Borbidge saw that her eyes did not follow smoothly. Both eyes showed clear, sustained jerking at maximum deviation, beginning before they reached 45 degrees. Rose arrested Pappas after seeing her traffic violations and erratic driving, along with her difficulty completing the sobriety tests. At Evesham Police Headquarters, she was read her Miranda rights. Borbidge then gave her the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators. She first agreed to provide breath samples, but changed her mind when he tried to take her to the Alcotest machine. After processing, Pappas’s mother signed a Potential Liability Warning form so her daughter could be released. Pappas received summonses for driving under the influence, refusing a chemical breath test, reckless driving, and failing to show proof of insurance. On October 27, 2022, Pappas pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. She was fined $1,390 and sentenced to two days in jail, 30 days of community service, two years with an ignition interlock device, and 48 hours in an intoxicated-driver program.
