On May 28, 2025, Shorewood Hills Police Officer Hamm observed a vehicle speeding. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 25-year-old woman. She admitted to consuming 2 alcoholic beverages while visiting "Red Rock", a bar in downtown Madison. Officer Hamm asked the woman, who was driving on a revoked license due to a previous Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) conviction, to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She also provided blew into a portable breath testing device. The result was 0.224% BAC. As she was being arrested and placed into the back of the police car, she kicked one of the officers. She then became out of control and started screaming uncontrollably. She refused to consent to a blood draw, but a blood warrant was obtained. Her belligerent behavior continued at the hospital. She was eventually transported to the Dane County Jail. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
