On July 9, 2023, deputies in Yates County, New York responded to a domestic violence call that ended a 25-year relationship in chaos. According to the victim, an argument over a TV remote escalated when her boyfriend, 50-year-old Anthony Cranmer, shoved her to the floor in front of their children — then walked off into the nearby farmland like nothing happened. When deputies finally caught up with him near the tree line, Anthony didn't deny the shove — he tried to justify it, telling officers his girlfriend had actually asked him to push her. One deputy's response to that excuse became an instant standout moment of the body cam footage. This video breaks down the full incident: the initial 911 response, interviews with the children who witnessed the assault, the search through the backyards for Anthony, his arrest and excuses in the back of the patrol car, and the booking process where he suddenly demanded a lawyer for a breathalyzer test. Anthony Cranmer was charged with Harassment in the Second Degree, Domestic Violence Assault, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child for the assault occurring in front of minors. He was later granted probation with mandatory domestic violence intervention and anger management, avoiding jail time. 🚨 Do you think his excuse holds any weight, or should he have faced real jail time for what his kids witnessed?
