According to police, officers responded around 7 p.m. to a report of an unresponsive infant in a U-Haul vehicle. The child, identified as one-month-old Grayson Luncsford of Chicago, was pronounced dead at the scene. His mother, 25-year-old Andrea N. Luncsford, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and endangering the life or health of a child. The Peoria County Coroner’s Office determined that Grayson suffered from severe hyperthermia and dehydration, indicating gross neglect. Investigators believe the infant had been deceased between four and twenty-four hours before being discovered by relatives. Reports indicate Luncsford had rented the U-Haul in Chicago following a visitation for her late husband and tested positive for cocaine.
