Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: On November 11, 2023, at around 1:05 AM, Deputy Christopher Olin from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office was out on patrol on NE Valley Road when he spotted a red 1998 Volvo S70 driving over the center line near the intersection with Providence Court. Then, after turning onto Brandi Way, the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Hailey, kept crossing over the center line. Deputy Olin decided to turn on his emergency lights and pull the driver over. He asked Hailey where she was coming from, and she told Deputy Olin that she was heading back to her apartment after dropping off her friends. While talking to Hailey, Deputy Olin noticed the smell of alcohol and saw other signs that she might be impaired. Hailey confessed to having had some drinks about 90 minutes earlier. Because he suspected she was impaired, Deputy Olin gave her a chance to do some sobriety tests. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, and Deputy Olin noticed 4 out of 6 signs of impairment. Then came the Walk and Turn test, and Hailey kind of forgot what to do when she had to turn. Finally, there was the One Leg Stand test, and Hailey couldn't keep her balance and didn't raise her foot the way she was supposed to. After those tests to see if she'd been drinking, Hailey was asked to take a breath test and it showed her blood alcohol level was 0.10%. Because she admitted to having drinks, couldn't do the tests well, and the breath test result, Deputy Olin arrested her for driving under the influence. Deputy Petersen parked her car nearby while Deputy Olin took her to the Pullman Police Department for more procedures. Deputy Olin gave Hailey the Implied Consent Warnings and after 20 minutes, she agreed to do the breathalyzer test. Her Alcotest showed a BAC of 0.115%, which was above the legal limit of 0.08%. After the test, Hailey was taken to Whitman County Jail in Colfax, Washington and was booked. She got cited under RCW 46.61.502 for Driving under the Influence (DUI) and was later let go until her court appearance.
