They responded to a call about a car crash. While searching the area, Then spotted a broken-down 2015 Dodge Dart at East Central Boulevard and 14th Street. Another officer followed the fluid leak from the car. It seemed the driver hit a parked vehicle on Central Boulevard in Fort Lee. Then she crossed into Palisades Park, where the car stopped working. Then approached the Dodge's driver, a 27-year-old woman named Chennelle. As they talked, he smelled alcohol on her. He also found several cannabis items inside. Chennelle confessed she drank alcohol that night. Later, she mentioned her job at a cannabis shop. The officers suspected she was impaired. So they asked her to do field sobriety tests. Then began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Officer Christolias watched closely. He saw no smooth eye movement. There was clear, ongoing jerking at the edge of her gaze. The jerking started before 45 degrees. Next came the Walk and Turn test. Chennelle missed heel-to-toe steps. She took the wrong number of steps. She botched the turn too. The last test was One Leg Stand. She didn't lift her foot right. She dropped it early, before finishing. The crash, signs of impairment, alcohol smell, her own words about drinking, and poor test performance led to her arrest for driving under the influence. Police towed her car for a required 12-hour hold under John's Law. Then first took her to the Palisades Park station for more checks. They read her the standard statement for drivers. She agreed to give breath samples. After watching her for 20 minutes, she blew into the machine. But it malfunctioned. So they drove her to the Ridgefield Police Department for their Alcotest device. Her results showed a blood alcohol level of 0.16%. That's twice the legal limit of 0.08%. Once the test ended, they brought her back to Palisades Park for final steps. After issuing tickets and wrapping up, they let her go to a sober adult. This waited for her court date. The adult signed a warning about potential liability for Chennelle. Then gave her these tickets: Driving under the influence (39:4-50) Careless driving (39:4-97) No proof of insurance (39:3-29C) 28:41 when you realize it's everyone else's fault but your own 31:50 PPPD buys their hand-cuffs from the Temu Cop Supply Store. 34:59 You should have slipped out of the handcuffs 39:57 Geeez 50:44 i was not driving when you guys pulled me over. 1:12:47 I appreciate that officers attempt at encouraging her. 1:15:00 You were driving a car trippin on shrooms and a couple drinks. 1:26:40 Polititics????
