A man carjacked a woman at hammer-point and fled in her SUV. Florida Highway Patrol's first PIT maneuver missed — the second one rolled the stolen SUV onto its side on the I-95 on-ramp. On a weekend evening in Miami Beach, a suspect armed with a hammer demanded a woman's car keys and fled in her Toyota SUV. Miami-Dade PD spotted the vehicle and requested FHP assistance. A first PIT made the SUV wobble but it kept going; a second PIT, near the ramp to westbound I-95 from Alton Road, sent the SUV rolling onto its side. Driver Savalas Cigar, 46, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and then arrested on charges of grand theft of a vehicle, fleeing/eluding causing injury or damage, and driving without a license; bond was set at $11,000.
