This incident began in the early morning hours when an officer observed a 2017 Kia Sportage making multiple turns without signaling and driving erratically. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the officer made contact with the 19-year-old female driver, who exhibited clear signs of impairment, including watery, bloodshot eyes and the distinct odor of alcohol. Despite being offered an opportunity to participate, the driver refused to complete any field sobriety exercises, leading to her arrest for driving under the influence. Subsequent breathalyzer tests at the police department confirmed a blood alcohol content of 0.179%, significantly above the legal limit. Following processing, the driver was escorted to a holding facility. During this time, she expressed confusion and concern upon being denied a phone call, prompting the officer to clarify that the facility was for temporary holding and not a full jail booking.
