A dramatic bodycam video shows the arrest of Leonard Pitchford, who’s now facing over 40 charges after an explosive device went off inside his hotel room at the SpringHill Suites in Lyndon. Police were initially called because Pitchford hadn’t checked out. When officers and hotel staff forced the door open, an explosion went off inside. Pitchford had barricaded himself using an electrical cord to secure the swing lock. Bodycam footage captures officers ordering Pitchford out with his hands up. After he finally exits, police spot a fire inside the room. Officer Yeng Xiong courageously went in with a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, despite the bomb squad later finding more suspected explosive devices. Pitchford was arrested on June 21 and now faces 43 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and a charge for using a weapon of mass destruction. His bond is set at $200,000. Police say he poses a serious threat to the community. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident.
