On September 8, 2024 at approximately 1:58 AM, Officer Schwartz and Sergeant Elyyan with the Park Forest Police Department were traveling southbound on Orchard Drive when they observed a silver Mazda parked on the curb of Indianwood Boulevard. The vehicle was empty and there was airbag deployment on the passenger side. They made contact with a 24-year-old female identified as Jazmine Jones near the passenger side of the vehicle. They later observed another woman walking eastbound on Indianwood Boulevard, and they were advised that she was the driver of the Mazda. The officers headed over towards her and made contact with the other female, who was later identified as 23-year-old Alexis Anderson. Alexis admitted to consuming 1 drink and 2 shots earlier that evening. As they were speaking with Alexis, they observed indicators of impairment. Based on their suspicion of impairment, Alexis was placed in the patrol car and transported back to the crash scene so they could administer field sobriety exercises. Officer Schwartz started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test, and Alexis did not touch heel-to-toe on each step, turned improperly, and took an incorrect number of steps. The third exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Alexis failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete. The fourth exercise involved the recitation of the alphabet from “F” to “R,” and Alexis did not do so satisfactorily. The fifth exercise was counting backwards from “67” to “52,” and Alexis did not do this satisfactorily either. As he proceeded to administer the Modified Romberg Balance Test, Alexis told the officer to just arrest her, and the test was terminated. Based on the motor vehicle crash, her indicators of impairment, her admission to consuming alcohol earlier that evening, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer Schwartz placed Alexis under arrest for driving under the influence. She was handcuffed, placed in the patrol car, and transported to the Park Forest Police Department for further processing. At the Park Forest Police Department, the Warning to Motorist form was read to her and she agreed to provide breath samples. Her Intoxilyzer results indicated a BAC level of 0.103%, which was above the legal limit of 0.08%. After she was processed at the station, she was released with the following summonses pending her court appearance: -Driving under the influence - alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2)) -Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Over .08 (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1)) -Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident (625 ILCS 5/11-601) ------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information).
