On September 19, a Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy arrived at Kerr's residence to arrest him for an alleged probation violation related to unpaid child support. Upon arrival, the deputy found Kerr on a riding lawn mower, which he refused to dismount. Instead, Kerr accelerated and fled on the mower, leading the deputy on a slow-speed chase. The pursuit ended when Kerr drove the mower into a ditch. Despite being stopped, Kerr refused to comply with the deputy's commands, even after being warned that a Taser would be used. When Kerr eventually got off the mower, he allegedly walked away from the deputy and pointed a handgun at him. The deputy deployed his Taser in response, which caused Kerr to unintentionally shoot himself in the hand with his own gun. Bodycam footage released by the police captured the bizarre series of events. Kerr was subsequently arrested and received medical treatment for the gunshot wound before being booked into jail. Authorities confirmed that he faced multiple charges, including felonious assault and fleeing police.
