On February 17, 2023, Kent Police Officer Schmitt observed a vehicle traveling at night with no headlights on. He initiated a traffic stop and quickly learned that the 21-year-old driver had consumed alcohol. Before she was asked to step out of the vehicle, she stated she was "freaking out" and had anxiety. After performing poorly on standardized field sobriety tests, she submitted to a portable breath test (PBT). The result of the PBT was 0.245% BAC. As she was being arrested and handcuffed, she tried to blame her impairment on her anxiety. She was taken to the Kent police station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test (EBT). The result of the EBT was 0.234% BAC. Her charges and the outcome of the case are discussed at the end of the video.
