Around 7:03 PM on May 21, 2023, an officer approached a disabled 2020 Toyota SUV with a flat tire on Shore Road. Upon interaction, the officer noted the driver's slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol, despite her denial of consumption and initial refusal to provide identification. The situation intensified when the driver failed multiple field sobriety exercises, including the Walk and Turn and One Leg Stand tests, exhibiting stumbling and an inability to follow instructions. Consequently, the officer placed the driver under arrest for driving under the influence, a decision met with immediate protest from the woman.
