On Thursday January 18, 2024, around 2:56 am, officers in the area of 488 Blue Hill Avenue received an alert on the Shotspotter app of a single round fired in the area of 434 Blue Hill Avenue, only seconds away from their location. Upon arrival, officers observed no occupied vehicles and only a single male in the area of the Shotspotter alert, stopped on Blue Hill Avenue, waiting to cross over warren street. Due to no other people in the area, officers decided to stop and speak with the individual later identified as Lemarr Lovett, 43 of Hyde Park. As officers approached Lovett, they noticed he was panting and out of breath, as if he'd been running. Lovett also repeatedly reached for his pockets, which caused the officers to perform a pat and frisk. Upon searching Mr. Lovett, officers recovered a Thames Arms Company .38 caliber revolver capable of holding 5 rounds. The firearm had no serial number and was loaded with 5 rounds and one spent shell casing. Mr. Lovett was arrested on scene and charged with Carrying a firearm without a license, Possession of ammunition without an FID card and carrying a loaded firearm. He was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court, Roxbury Division, and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
