Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At approximately 2:47 AM on January 21, 2023, Officer David Stinsman of the Mount Laurel Police Department was traveling south on Route 73 when he observed a 2015 Honda Civic Coupe operating without its headlamps illuminated in the vicinity of Granite Avenue. The driver proceeded towards the exit ramp for I-295 northbound and was observed braking sharply before turning onto the ramp. Upon merging onto I-295, Officer Stinsman conducted a traffic stop on the highway. Subsequently, upon pulling over, he approached the driver, identified as Grace, to make contact. Grace was requested to provide her documents by Officer Stinsman, who inquired about her point of origin. While conversing with her, Officer Stinsman detected the scent of alcohol. Initially, Grace stated that she was coming from her friend's residence and denied consuming alcohol. However, she later confessed to having consumed alcohol approximately 2 hours earlier. During this time, Officer Scheuren arrived on the scene to provide assistance. Grace informed Officer Scheuren that she had consumed alcohol at a bowling alley earlier that evening. Due to Officer Stinsman's suspicion of impairment, he requested Grace to partake in field sobriety exercises. During the initial assessment, Grace displayed difficulty with the Walk and Turn test, as she did not consistently touch heel-to-toe on each step and relied on her arms for balance. In the subsequent One Leg Stand test, Grace struggled to lift her foot appropriately and exhibited swaying while attempting to maintain balance. Based on her erratic driving patterns, the presence of alcohol odor on her person, and her inability to successfully perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer Stinsman placed Grace under arrest for driving under the influence. A search of her vehicle incident to arrest revealed an open container of Tito’s Vodka (375 ml) that was approximately 3/4 full. Her vehicle was impounded for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law. She was then taken by Officer Stinsman to Mount Laurel Police Headquarters for further processing. Upon arrival at the police headquarters, Grace was presented with the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators and consented to undergo breath testing. Officer Santiago administered the Alcotest machine, revealing a BAC of 0.11%, surpassing the legal limit of 0.08%. Upon completion of processing, Grace was released to a responsible adult at 5:26 AM subsequent to her endorsement of the Potential Liability Warning Form. She was cited for the following offenses: Operating under the influence, reckless driving, expired registration, failure to use lamps, and maintenance of lamps.
