Department: Martin County Sheriff's Office, FL Date: December 2, 2023 Suspect: Rodrick Lamon Phinizee Shortly after midnight on December 2, 2023, Martin County Sheriff's Officer Stephen Paladino observed a tag less Dodge Challenger being operated without lights. He attempted to stop the vehicle when the suspect, later identified as 28 year old Rodrick Lamon Phinizee, took off at a high rate of speed. The suspect reached speeds over 130 miles per hour before stop sticks were deployed, disabling the suspect's vehicle as well as the officer's. The following video is footage from the encounter. The sticks were successfully deployed, but also struck Officer Paladino's front tires. With Officer Paladino's vehicle effectively disabled, he flagged down a passing officer for a ride. The suspect was taken into custody.
