The Denver Police Department has released body camera footage from an officer-involved shooting involving a man armed with a knife. The incident happened on July 5 near 51st Avenue and Clarkson Street after officers responded to a harassment complaint. According to police, they had received multiple reports about 26-year-old Wilson Guerra Bravo allegedly harassing residents at the location. Officers said Bravo typically left the area before they arrived. When officers reached the scene, they encountered a man matching the description given by the 911 caller and reportedly saw that he was carrying a knife. Police say officers ordered Bravo to stop, but he walked away and disappeared behind a building. According to the Denver Police Department, an officer rounded the corner and Bravo suddenly lunged toward the officer with a 10-inch kitchen knife. Officers continued giving commands for Bravo to drop the weapon and warned him that he could be shot. Police say Bravo continued fleeing before reaching the intersection of 50th Avenue and Washington Street, where he turned toward an officer and allegedly attempted to attack with the knife. The officer then fired six shots. Police have not disclosed how many times Bravo was struck.
