On February 9, 2024, Lakewood police officers responded to a motor vehicle accident. A witness described a vehicle in the far right curb lane suddenly make a left turn striking another vehicle. The witness stated the at-fault vehicle was parked around the corner. However, when Investigator Hayes went to locate the at-fault vehicle, it was no where to be found. About 10 minutes later, the vehicle returned. The female driver, who had 2 kids in the car (including a 1 year-old infant) was clearly intoxicated, even though it was 10:00 AM. The woman was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DUI. At the police station, she refused to submit to an evidential breath test. She was charged with six (6) separate violations, which are all outlined at the end of the video. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
