On June 20, 2024, Las Cruces Police Officers were dispatched to a multiple vehicle accident with injuries. When they arrived, witnesses described a scene where passengers from the at-fault BMW fled on foot. The 21-year-old driver, however, remained at the accident site. The police report indicates that officers could smell alcohol on her breath. She also admitted to smoking cannabis. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Shortly thereafter, she was placed under arrest for DUI. She refused to consent to a breath test. While being placed in the back of the police car, her father showed up on scene. The woman was eventually transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center. Her charges are discussed at the end of the video. Her case remains open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
