When he tried to pull the car over, the driver turned into the driveway of 715 NE Stadium Way. The 21-year-old driver, Mia M., appeared confused when asked why she was stopped. She admitted to having one shot and one Truly about an hour earlier, but claimed she felt safe to drive. After Mia admitted to drinking, Deputy Olin gave her a chance to do voluntary field sobriety tests. He noticed her eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he could smell alcohol on her. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN). During this, the Deputy saw that Mia had trouble smoothly following movements and showed signs of nystagmus at maximum deviation and before reaching 45 degrees. In the Walk and Turn test, Mia stepped off with the wrong foot and struggled to keep her balance or walk straight. For the final One Leg Stand test, she began too early and counted in a way that went against the Deputy’s directions. After Mia completed the voluntary field sobriety tests, she was given the chance to take a preliminary breath test (PBT). The PBT showed a level of 0.102, which exceeds the legal limit of 0.08. Given her acknowledgment of drinking alcohol, her difficulty with the sobriety tests, and the PBT result, Deputy Olin arrested Mia for driving under the influence. She was then taken to the WSU Police Department for further processing. After Mia gave up her rights and answered the Deputy’s questions, she agreed to take a breathalyzer test. The results showed her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.094%, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08%. Following this, she was taken to Whitman County Jail in Colfax, Washington, where her bail was set at $500. She was charged under RCW 46.61.502 for Driving under the Influence (DUI). On March 16, 2023, Mia pleaded guilty to Negligent Driving in the First Degree (46.61.5249) and received a sentence of 12 months probation and 1 day in jail. She was also fined a total of $732.25, which included a $250 fine for Negligent Driving, a $139.25 DUI Cost Recovery Fee, a $43.00 Criminal Conviction Fee, and a $300 Supervised Probation Fee. 1:10 She is so polite. 22:00 this girl is a real g. 22:55 My favorite part was the teamwork seat belt 29:55 is English your primary language 41:13 I kinda helped you cheat on that, I told you it was after midnight.
