The Vancouver Police Department has released body camera footage from a deadly police shooting that occurred in the parking lot of a Safeway grocery store earlier this month. The incident happened on December 4, 2024, at approximately 10:48 p.m., at the Safeway located at 13719 SE Mill Plain Blvd. According to investigators, officers were patrolling the parking lot when they noticed a pickup truck without a front license plate backed into one of the store's loading bays. A man, later identified as 45-year-old Adam Gunderson, was seen loading items into the bed of the truck. Officers approached Gunderson to question him, but police say he refused to answer. As one of the officers attempted to walk to the back of the truck to check for a rear license plate, Gunderson allegedly ran to the driver’s seat and tried to flee the scene. A physical struggle ensued as officers attempted to remove Gunderson from the truck. During the altercation, Gunderson allegedly pulled out a gun. In response, one of the officers opened fire, fatally striking Gunderson. The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed Gunderson died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. One of the officers involved in the incident sustained a broken hand and a bite wound during the struggle. He was treated at a hospital and has since been placed on critical incident leave, per department policy. The shooting is now under review by the Washington State Office of Independent Investigations (OII), which is conducting an external investigation into the use of deadly force. #VancouverPoliceShooting #SafewayParkingLotShooting #VancouverPoliceBodycamFootage #AdamGundersonShooting #PoliceShootingDecember2024 #OfficerInvolvedShooting #VancouverPoliceDepartment #BodycamFootageRelease #WashingtonStateInvestigations #SafewayIncidentVancouver #MillPlainBlvdIncident #PoliceUseOfForce #IndependentInvestigation #LawEnforcementFootage #PoliceStruggleArmedSuspect ---------------------------------------------------- Credits: Music: Dark Mystery by Soundridemusic Link to Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKIKLfa5b3c&t=0s
