Trooper Collier Wright #574 was notified of the fleeing vehicle and began actively searching the area. While eastbound on I-40 (280-mile marker), Trooper Wright positioned himself with lights and sirens activated, traveling at 20-40 MPH to wait for the vehicle's next move. The Dodge Caravan passed Trooper Wright and accelerated over 100 MPH, initiating a high-speed pursuit. Once traffic cleared, a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) was executed, disabling the vehicle and removing the threat to the motoring public. The driver fled on foot, and Sergeant Roberts #522 observed him running south wearing a black jacket and dark pants. The suspect was not immediately located, but a phone with his image on the lock screen was found inside the vehicle. Evidence Recovered & Identification of Suspect The rental agreement found in the vehicle listed the driver as Davonte Willis (Memphis, TN). Running the driver’s license number confirmed his identity as the individual in the lock screen photo.
