Dayton, OH – Newly released police bodycam footage shows the final moments of a tense mental health response involving multiple law enforcement agencies. On October 19, 26-year-old Taylor Cotton was involved in a critical incident after police responded to reports of a mental health emergency at his mother’s home. Authorities say officers from Dayton Police, Moraine PD, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spent nearly 30 minutes attempting to de-escalate the situation following two 911 calls — one reporting a mental health concern and the second mentioning the presence of a weapon. This video presents the full, uncut bodycam footage of the officers' response and the series of events that led to a grand jury reviewing the case. No charges were filed against the officers. ⚠️ Disclaimer: This video is intended for informational and educational purposes. It may contain intense moments that some viewers may find sensitive.
