Minutes later, an officer located the vehicle entering a parking lot at Chagrin Blvd. and Green Rd. When approached, a lone adult male suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit of the male, who eventually came across an unoccupied Beachwood Police cruiser that was running. The suspect stole the police cruiser and attempted to flee the scene, causing damage to private property in the area. Officers used firearms in an attempt to disable the vehicle. The vehicle was indeed disabled but the suspect was able to flee the scene at low speed. Officers from Beachwood PD and Shaker Hts. PD were able to get the vehicle stopped in Shaker Hts. near the intersection of Stoer and Lomond. The suspect attempted to flee again on foot but was apprehended by officers. Two Beachwood officers suffered apparently minor injuries. The suspect had no noteworthy injuries but was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Charges are pending on the suspect. No civilians were injured or otherwise involved. The suspect will be identified when charges are filed. BCI will be investigating the portion of the incident that took place in Beachwood.
