Police in Joliet, Illinois, responded to a Walmart on a busy Black Friday weekend regarding an internal theft investigation. Loss Prevention staff alleged that a 20-year-old cashier, Dajah Hollie, had been pocketing cash from her register on five separate occasions, stealing over $500. When officers confronted Hollie in the security office, she vehemently denied the theft despite being told it was caught on 4K surveillance. The situation escalated rapidly when officers attempted to place her in handcuffs. Hollie resisted physically, leading to a struggle against the wall where she began screaming that the officers were hurting her. The source of her "injury" turned out to be a broken acrylic nail, for which she demanded medical attention.
