Sergeant Ramos was the first to arrive and called for Officer Vasquez to assist. When Officer Vasquez got there, they asked the driver, 22-year-old Yaquelin Lopez-Lopez, to step out of the vehicle. She stumbled as she walked toward the officer. Officer Vasquez asked Lopez-Lopez how much she had been drinking. She confessed to having three beers and revealed that she did not have a valid driver's license. Despite this, she agreed to take the field sobriety tests. When asked to walk towards him, she appeared to wobble again. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. After finishing the HGN test, Lopez-Lopez struggled to complete the One Leg Stand and Walk and Turn tests. Lopez-Lopez was arrested for driving under the influence after an off-duty police officer reported her behavior and she struggled with field sobriety tests. Once at the station, she refused a breathalyzer test. After processing, she was released to a responsible person. She faced several citations, including operating under the influence, reckless driving, driving without a license, not having liability insurance, unsafe lane changes, having an open container of alcohol, and refusing a chemical test.
