On July 11, 2026, Rio Rancho Police Officers responded to a report of a woman passed out in the middle of traffic lanes. Officer Ward arrived and met with the reporting party. He then attempted to make contact with the 22-year-old woman who was passed out. He was eventually able to wake the woman up, who claimed she was coming from a concert. Throughout the encounter, she denied consuming alcohol. However, an open container was found inside her vehicle. After performing field sobriety tests, the woman was placed under arrest. She admitted that she was driving on a revoked license from a previous DUI arrest. She was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station, where she refused to provide breath samples. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
