On January 22nd, deputies attempted a traffic stop on a Hyundai Sonata for a stop sign violation. The vehicle fled and the deputy lost sight of the vehicle. Shortly after, an accident involving injuries occurred at US 19 and Haines Road with the Hyundai Sonata. The driver of the Hyundai fled on foot. Deputy Harr and K-9 Tyson were called to help find the driver. The man had left his shoes near the accident scene, allowing K-9 Tyson to get a solid track. After about seven minutes, K-9 Tyson located and apprehended the driver who was hiding in a nearby neighborhood, in a front lawn behind a small palm tree. The man was arrested and charged with Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, Loitering and Prowling, Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Injury. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
