On March 1, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officers received reports of a wrong-way driver. Officer Puentes located the vehicle, which was being driven by a 33-year-old woman. He was able to get the woman to stop her vehicle. When he made contact with the woman, he could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle, but the woman denied consuming alcohol. Lt. Naus arrived and asked the woman to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was placed under arrest for Driving While Under the Influence (DWI). The woman was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station, where she refused to submit to a breath test. She then became argumentative and demanding and refused to follow directions to remove her jewelry and shoes. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
