On May 21, 2024, the Westlake Police Department received several calls from motorists who were following a white Acura that was driving recklessly and had allegedly struck the median wall. Patrolman Bullins located the Acura, which was being followed by a caller driving a BMW. Patrolman Bullins initiated a traffic stop on the Acura, which was driving by a 23-year-old female. The police report indicates that Patrolman Bullins could smell alcohol coming from inside of the Acura, so the woman was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was first asked to recite the English alphabet. When she got to the letter "P", she started reciting numbers. When she refused to perform the Walk and Turn test, she was placed under arrest for DUI. She was transported to the Bay Village police station, where an evidential breath test was performed. The result was 0.298% BAC. She was then transported back to the Westlake police station. During the booking process, she demanded to make numerous phone calls and then gave officers a difficult time when they wanted her to wait in a holding cell until her father arrived to take custody of her.
