Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 12:28 AM on October 7, 2023, Officer Nicholas Windsor from the Delray Beach Police Department spotted a 2022 ASPT golf cart heading west that ran a red light at the intersection of E Atlantic Avenue and NE 7th Avenue. A vehicle traveling north on the same road, preparing to turn left onto NE 7th Avenue, had a green light but had to brake to avoid hitting the golf cart. Because of this traffic violation, Officer Windsor started to follow the golf cart, which then turned right onto NE 6th Avenue, swerving between the travel lane and a designated bicycle lane. He turned on his emergency lights to pull the golf cart over, which then parked in the lot of 115 NE 6th Ave, near Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza & Wings restaurant. Officer Windsor approached the golf cart operator, Loren, who had two female and one male passenger with him. Upon making contact, Windsor noticed the smell of alcohol and spotted an open High Noon seltzer can in the cup holder. Loren's eyes were red and glossy, and he was slurring his words. He admitted to drinking alcohol before driving the golf cart. He requested Loren's paperwork and went back to his patrol car to check her license. The records showed that her license was suspended. At that moment, Officers Stickley, Mitchell, and Swilley arrived to help Officer Windsor. Because he suspected Loren might be impaired, Officer Windsor asked her to do some field sobriety tests, and she agreed. He began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, then moved on to the Walk and Turn test, the One Leg Stand test, and finally the Modified Romberg Balance Test. After noticing her traffic violation, the smell of alcohol, her slurred speech, the open container in her cup holder, and her struggle to complete the field sobriety tests, Officer Windsor arrested Loren for driving under the influence. Once arrested, she was taken to the PBSO BAT facility, where she agreed to take breath tests. The results showed her blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.210% and 0.214%, which is more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%. After providing breath samples, Loren was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail at 5:27 AM. She faced charges for driving under the influence, not stopping at a red light, failing to stay in her lane, driving with a suspended license without realizing it, and having an open container. Later that same day, she was released at 9:27 AM, awaiting her court date.
