On March 8, 2025, New Mexico State University (NMSU) Police Officer Chavez was dispatched to a call involving a possible drunk driver. He located the described vehicle pulling into a NMSU parking lot. He activated his body worn camera slightly after making contact with the 19-year-old driver. She admitted that she had consumed a Twisted Tea alcoholic beverage earlier in the morning. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which resulted in her being arrested for Driving While Under the Influence. She was transported to the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office for an evidential breath test. The result was 0.16% BAC, twice the legal limit for someone 21 years of age and older. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
